Soothe the Season with Milo’s Tasty Homemade Horehound Syrup

As the brisk autumn winds usher in the season of sniffles and sore throats, it's time to turn to nature's pantry for relief. Our Horehound Syrup recipe, featuring horehound, blackberry leaf, and chamomile, is your go-to remedy this fall.


Milo's Tasty Homemade Horehound Syrup Ingredients

- 4 oz Dried horehound

- 1 oz Dried blackberry leaf

- 1 oz Dried chamomile

- 9 cups Water

- 40 oz Honey

- 16 oz Black strap molasses


Instructions

1. Herb Prep: Mix the horehound, blackberry leaf, chamomile and water in a pot.


2. Simmer: Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer with a lid for 25-30 minutes.


3. Strain: Cool slightly and strain.


4. Sweeten: Return liquid to pot, add honey and molasses, stir well.


5. Thicken: Simmer to a syrup consistency, about 30-45 more minutes.


6. Bottle: Cool and transfer to sterilized jars.


7. Store: Keep in a cool, dark place or fridge for months.
